Driven to Succeed: How Community Support Helped Momodou Thrive

Momodou Sirreh Jallow, a Dandenong resident, had been facing a series of rejections in his job search, which was taking a toll on his confidence and morale.

His reliance on public transport made it even harder to maintain a consistent job search schedule, often leading to missed opportunities.

But Momodou’s story took a positive turn when he connected with IntoJobs, part of the IntoWork Group. Recognising the obstacles he was facing, IntoJobs referred him to the Communities Corp program, which provided him with essential interview skills and job readiness training. This program not only helped him polish his resume and cover letter but also gave him the confidence to better present himself during interviews.

To address his transportation issues, IntoJobs provided financial assistance for public transport, ensuring he could attend interviews and job-related activities without financial stress. They also connected him with Sahil Driving School and Drive Local, where he received driving lessons and eventually obtained his driving license.

Momodou’s hard work and the support he received finally paid off. He completed the Communities Corp program and was soon offered a part-time job at IKEA, working 40 hours every two weeks. His dedication and performance didn’t go unnoticed, and IKEA recently offered him a full-time position with a new contract.

“Momodou’s story is a great example of how a combination of personal effort and community support can lead to remarkable outcomes. We are proud to have played a part in his journey and look forward to seeing his continued success,” said Mobile Employment Consultant Walid Safi.
