Mobile Employment Consultant (MEC) Kahlee, a dedicated member of the IntoJobs team, learned that the Rydges Hotel Mackay was looking to fill six positions. Seeing an opportunity to support IntoJobs clients, Kahlee proactively reached out to the company to discuss their hiring needs, aiming to streamline the recruitment process and match the right candidates with the roles.
IntoJobs began the referral and screening process, carefully reviewing CVs and conducting thorough background checks to ensure each candidate was a strong fit.
After the screening process, 10 participants were referred to attend the group interview, with clothing purchased to help them present professionally on the day. Jamie, the Head Housekeeper from the hotel, visited the IntoJobs Mackay site to lead the group information session, where she offered valuable insights into the company and the available roles.
As a result, seven participants were offered employment—one more than the six initial openings—highlighting their strong fit for the positions.
Jamie collaborated with the IntoJobs consultants to discuss the participants’ suitability and any additional support they might need. Transportation posed a challenge for some, so MEC Kahlee worked with the employer to adjust work schedules to align with bus timetables, ensuring that participants could reliably access public transport to and from work.
The IntoJobs team continued to support the new hires with their onboarding, assisting with uniform requirements and paperwork. Since joining the company, the group has thrived in their training, with one participant demonstrating exceptional leadership skills and potentially stepping into a leadership role once their training is complete.
IntoJobs is now providing ongoing In work Post-Placement Support (PPS), both in-person and via phone, and offering opportunities for upskilling to ensure that both the participants and the business continue to succeed.
This collaboration not only resulted in seven successful placements but also created a supportive and collaborative environment, addressing barriers proactively and laying the foundation for long-term success for all involved.
