Kayla’s journey in finding a meaningful career that really fits

For years, Kayla Drew struggled with ongoing mental health challenges that made it difficult for her to find stability and direction in her employment journey. She explored several training pathways, hoping to spark an interest – but nothing felt like quite the right fit. Kayla knew she wanted something more, something that aligned with her goals, her skills and her personality.

A turning point arrived when she found the right support from the IntoJobs team in Cannonvale (QLD)*. Kayla described her Employment Consultant, Natasha, as someone who ‘helped in every single way’, offering not just career advice, but emotional confidence-building and mental health support.

Through additional support from the Suited to Success and the EmpowHer program, Kayla began strengthening her self-belief and rediscovering her passions.

Kayla had always had an interest in the beauty industry but wasn’t sure how to get a foot in the door. When she shared her dream of becoming a lash technician and potentially starting her own small business, Natasha encouraged the idea and supported Kayla through each step of the process.

With that guidance, Kayla successfully completed training, officially becoming a qualified lash technician. The achievement didn’t just boost her confidence – it opened doors. Shortly after completing her training, Kayla was offered full-time employment with a local lash business, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

Thinking back to when they first met, Natasha remembers that Kayla seemed lost, unsure of where she belonged or what path to take. Today, Kayla stands proud, confident and ready to thrive in her new career.

Her journey is a positive reminder that with the right support, encouragement and belief in your own abilities, what might start as a dream can develop into a rewarding, sustainable career.
